Sue Hoy approaches each painting with a spirit of play, beginning the creative process loosely and abstractly. This openness at the start allows energy and spontaneity to guide the work, keeping the composition fresh and alive. Working in oil and acrylic, she uses simplified shapes and intentional restraint to avoid overworking the piece.

Visible brushstrokes, expressive lines, and multiple layers invite the viewer into the process itself, offering a glimpse into the artist’s hand and the evolution of the image. Whether working with landscapes, still life, or purely abstract compositions, Sue finds inspiration in the natural beauty of New England and the quiet moments of everyday life.

With a degree in fine arts and a background in graphic design, Sue brings decades of creative exploration to the studio. Her paintings are exhibited in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. She has been involved in numerous public art projects including murals and painted sculpture. Sue also teaches art classes for children and adults in Milton Massachusetts.
